It's easy to add a YouTube video to your presentation using PowerPoint 2013. First. open your presentation. click the Insert tab. then click the Video dropdown menu at then top right and select Online

Video. You’ll see two options YouTube and ‘From an Embed Code'. We'll show you how to use the latter option. Open YouTube in your browser. then find your chosen video. Next. click the Share option below the video‘s title, then the Embed tab. and copy the provided link. Now return to PowerPoint. paste this link into the ‘Paste embed code here' field and click the small arrow to the right of the field to insert it into your presentation. Longer videos may take a while. When that’s done. you’ll see a black outline of the video on your slide. Right-click this. click the Start dropdown menu at the top right and select Automatically or On Click.

The former plays the video as soon as your slide begins. whereas the latter requires you to click your slide to begin playing it. By default. the video appears as a small window. To make this bigger, right-click the video outline. then click ‘Size and Position‘ at the bottom. Now tick “Best scale for slide show‘ in the pane on the

right. then click and drag your video to the middle of your slide. Finally. double-click the video to see the YouTube controls.

PowerPoint slide transitions have a default time duration in Office 2010, but you can change this to make them faster. Click the Effects Options dropdown menu to add effects to your transitions. By default, every transition has a set time duration in seconds. You can change the transition time to whatever suits your presentation. Click the up and down arrows to change the duration speed by 0.25 (quarter of a second) or click inside the box and enter a time value. We feel the best transition duration is between 0.80 and 1.20. You can also add sound effects to your transitions. To do this, click the Sound dropdown menu and try the options to hear how your presentation will sound when you change from one slide to the next. We like the Arrow and Click sounds as they are more discreet than the others. Try out different sounds and transition durations so see what works best for your presentation. After you’ve finished, click Apply To All.
