Windows media player is missing in Window 8

You might have an N version of Windows, such as Windows 8 N, Windows 8 Pro N, or Windows 8 KN. These don't include Media Player because a European Commission ruling said you should have the option to choose your own media player. Try VLC (www.videolan.org), which is a popular free media player, or Media Monkey (www.mediamonkey.com).
