There are plenty of apps on the Play store that let you turn your Android phone or tablet into a trigger for your DSLR camera, but if you're looking for something to trigger the camera on your Google-powered device, then the pickings are slimmer. But fret not, because in this tutorial we’ll guide you through setting up a system that lets you take photos remotely. You'll need a couple of Android devices, or an Android device and a PC, and you will need a couple of apps installed too. But if you don't mind a little bit of fall, then you can set up a clever remote control in less than an hour. Here we'll guide you through getting everything set up, show you a few shortcuts that will save you some time in the long run, and give you a few quick tips to make sure that everything's running smoorhly. You’re going to need two apps and a couple of devices to make all of this work. First. download Tasker and Pushbullet onto one of the devices, and then install Pushbullet on the second. You can use a PC if you’d prefer. Pushbullet is free,Tasker is £2.99/S2.99.

Now, on the phone that you want to take the photo, you’re going to have to create a couple of tasks. One to capture the photo and one to work as a remote trigger. We will handle the photo one first. Swipe to the tasks pane and then tap on the + button.

Name the task, then tap the + button to add an action. Tap Media and then tap Take Photo in the bottom-right. Set a filename for the photos and change the Naming Sequence to either Series or Chronological, whichever you'd prefer. Now hit the back button to save the task.

Next we need to create a separate profile in Tasker that uses the photo task that we’ve just created. First though, you need to make sure that you've got Pushbullet set up and installed on your device, and that you've given it access to everything that it needs access to.

Swipe to the profile tab of Tasker and tap the + button to add a new one. When you‘re prompted, tap that you want to create an event. When the list of possible events comes up, tap plug-ins, then tap on Pushbullet. Now tap on the pencil button to configure.
