How To Stop wireless devices clashing with your Wi-Fi
Cordless phones and other domestic devices can interfere with your Wi-Fi signal. If your signal seems weak, make sure your router isn’t too close to your your phone, baby monitor or microwave. You can also switch the Wi-Fi channel that your router is using. Generally, channels 1 and 2 in the router’s settings should be avoided, because other wireless domestic appliances use these frequencies. Download InSSIDer (http://www.metageek.net/inssider/) to find out which channels are being used by other Wi-Fi devices in range of your house. The software shows your internet signal strength, MAC address, encryption settings and channel, so it can also help you work out which channels are strongest. See if you can change the router’s channel to either 6 or 11. For best performance, it should be at least two channels away from anything else.
