How To Remove The Windows 10 Upgrade Notification

If you don’t intend to upgrade to Windows 10 when it's released this summer. you‘d probably rather the upgrade notification didn't persistently sit in the notification area of your Windows 7 taskbar. Fortunately, there’s an easy way to remove it by uninstalling the Windows updates that are responsible for its presence.

Open the Start menu, type programs and features and press Enter. Next, click ‘View installed updates’ and locate the following updates: 3035583, 2952664, 3021917, Right-click each one and select Uninstall and Restart Later when the prompt appears. Next, restart your PC so that the changes take effect and the irritating Windows 10 icon will have disappeared from your taskbar.

To make sure that the notification doesn't come back, you need to prevent the updates you just deleted from being downloaded again. To do this, open Windows Update from the Start menu, select 'Check for updates', click the ‘important update is available' link and right-click the updates mentioned in the previous paragraph, clicking 'Hide update' on each one.
