How To Get a faster GPS signal
Every Android phone comes with a built-in GPS receiver and a copy of Google Maps with full navigation functions. But when you change locations between the times you use it, getting a GPS lock can take a while. Here’s how to speed the process up...
Find your local time server
Go to http://www.pool.ntp.org/en and under Active Servers choose your region. Copy the server list eg.server O.europe. pool.ntp.org, server 1.europe. pool.ntp.org etc. and click on your country and the
servers eg. server 2.uk.pool. ntp.org.
Edit gps.conf the
In a file manager such as Estrongs go to the root, and then the etc folder. Open up the gps.conf file. For the servers we copied earlier, add them in to NTP_SERVER=O. COUNTRY. uk.pool.ntp.org, NTP_SERVER=O. REGION.europe. pool.ntp.org etc.
Clear GPS cache
Restart the device, and then download GPS Status & Toolbox from the Play store. This free app gives you detailed information about your GPS. Open Tools then ‘Manage A-GPS state’ and Reset to clear the GPS cache.
