My Android phone's capacity is 16GB and unfortunately it doesn't have a MicroSD slot to expand the storage any further. However, l recently discovered that it is possible to use an on-the-go (OTG) cable

with my phone. which lets me plug in USB devices including flash drives and even external hard drives.

Because my phone has built-in back- up software that ordinarily creates a large back-up file locally, having an OTG cable has made it much easier for me to safely store these files to a flash drive without needing a computer. Also, I can store video files to a flash drive for watching on train journeys or flights without having to take up valuable space on my phone.

I bought my cable for a mere £2.98 from Amazon (bit.ly/otg). Used with Verbatim’s16GB Netbook flash drive (bit.ly/flash), it's an incredibly portable solution. However, before buying, be sure to check that your device is OTG- compatible. The Android app USB OTG Checker (https://play.google.com/usbotgchecker) should be able to confirm this if a quick Google search doesn't return any answers.
