How To change my Apple ID
Assuming that you can remember the password used to set up your Apple ID, then the made-up email address isn’t in fact an impediment to changing the ID. To do this, first visit the My Apple ID website at (https://appleid.apple.com) and log in using the made-up email address and password. Now click the Edit link in the ‘Apple ID and Primary Email Address’ section, type your real email address and press
Enter.
While you’re here, we suggest adding a backup email address by clicking Add Email Address in the
Alternate Email Addresses section. Click the blue Save Changes button to finish. When you return to your iPad and iPad Mini, tap the Settings option followed by Store. Scroll down to find the Apple ID button. Currently, this will show your old Apple ID (with the made-up email address). Tap this, then tap Sign Out. Tap Sign In followed by Use Existing Apple ID, then log into your Apple account using your new Apple ID and password.
If you can’t remember the password then instead try Apple’s iForgot service, (https://iforgot.apple.com). Type your made-up Apple ID and click Next. At the next screen, select the ‘Answer security questions’ radio button and click Next. Now follow the prompts (the questions will relate to personal information). If you succeed in answering the personal security questions, you will be offered the opportunity to change your password. You can now return to the My Apple ID website, log in with the made-up email address and new password and proceed as explained. If you still have no luck then Apple’s own advice is to call its customerservice line, on 0800 048 0408 – so do this and explain the situation.
