How To Backup lost Your MicrosoftWord files
This is something it’s all too easy to do, unfortunately. Our guess is that when you saved during the day, you just pressed Save, and didn’t specify a filename and location, so you saved your changes into the temporary file you downloaded. First, check whether the file is in your Temporary Internet Files folder. As you’re using Internet Explorer, you can view these files by opening Internet Explorer and selectingInternet Options from the Tools menu. On the General Tab, look under Browsing history and click the Settings button. View the files by clicking View files in the dialog that appears, and you’ll also see the location the files are stored. If you find the file you’d worked on, open it and save it under a new name.
If you’re prone to losing work in Word, make sure you’ve turned on the option to create backups of documents. If you’re using Word 2007 or 2010, turn this option on from the Microsoft Office Button. Click Word Options, then choose Advanced. Scroll through the list of options until you get to the Save section. Make sure the ‘Always create backup copy’ option is selected and, if it isn’t selected, select it now. To do the same in Word 2003, select the Tools menu and click Options. In the dialog box that appears, you’ll find the ‘Always create backup copy’ option on the Save tab. If you discover the option to create backup copies is selected, do a search for files that.
