Backing up all your photos may seem like a daunting task, especially since it's beoome so easy to shoot and scan thousands of snaps with your tablet or phone. So Google and Microsoft have both launched automatic photo-backup tools that save your pictures and videos securely to the cloud without requiring any effort on your part.

The latest version of Google’s free photo organiser, Picasa (http://picasa.google.com), includes the Goog1e+ Auto Backup tool which automatically backs up your photos and videos to Google Drive (http://drive.google.com). It lets you back up an unlimited number of photos up to 2,048 x 2,048 pixels in size without using your 15GB free Google Drive allowance. Videos and bigger photos are also saved automatically, but only until you reach your Google Drive limit or upgrade your allowance ($1.99 - about £1.19  per month for 100GB).
