How To Encrypt webmail with Mailvelope
Email is a notoriously unsecure means of communication but the encryption add-on Mailvelope (www.mailvelope.com) can make it safer. Although its currently only available for Chrome (a Firefox plug-in is in development). Mailvelope works with pretty much any webmail service, including Gmail, Outlook.com and Yahoo Mail. To encrypt your messages, install the add-on, click the padlock icon on your browser toolbar, select Options and generate an encryption key.
You’ll need to share the key with the person you want to send private messages to preferably by text message or phone. Once you’ve done this, sign into your webmail and click Compose. Instead of typing as normal. click the pen-and-paper icon that appears in the body of the message to open a special, encrypted Mailvelope Compose window. Full instructions can be found at www.mailvelope.com/help.
